Don’t we have laws? Then, why aren’t they being obeyed? Where is law enforcement?

Beach Girl asked:

Day laborers plan to conduct a march Friday morning from the Orange Resource Center to what march organizers call the “newly formed day laborer corner,” at the corner of Chapman Avenue and Lincoln Street.

The one-mile march begins at 8:30 a.m., with a press conference scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at the new corner, which is between Tustin and Cambridge streets on Chapman.

Organizers say the march is in response to the new city law requiring users of the Resource Center provide two forms of identification.

The Orange City Council voted Oct. 9 to reinstate a requirement for day laborers at the city-run employment center to provide proper identification, an action intended to curtail what’s considered a city-wide day laborer problem.

The vote was prompted by a report by City Attorney David DeBerry, which stated that 80 percent of the resource center users were not from Orange.http://www.ocregister.com/news/city-center-day-1897965-march-orange
I thought we lived in the ‘Land of the Free, and the Home of the Brave.’ You know, that old Abe Lincoln quote “OF the People, BY the People and FOR the People.”
Don’t we have laws? Then, why aren’t they being obeyed? Where is law enforcement? Oh. I forgot. The laws are only for citizens who are FORCED to reward (with their tax-paying dollars) those who come here ILLEGALLY to tell US to stick our laws where the sun don’t shine.

I don’t feel too good about some group of people who are here breaking our laws, thumbing their noses at me. Where has my country gone?

Maybe Law Enforcement officials have more important things to protect us from other than poor people from another country who are looking for work.

We have laws and they are not enforced. It’s that plain and simple. I have a buddy who is a state trooper. He routinely pulls over illegals and INS routinely tells him to just turn them around south.

Our government engages in ridiculous immigration reform…when what need is immigration enforcement.

But the reality is that all our brother and sister Americans are squarely to blame. They continue to hire and enable this illegal behavior. In East Tennessee the farmers hire them to stake tobacco and pick tomatoes. They are all anti-illegal in their speech and then hire them left and right.

In Tulsa, they build houses, in Iowa, they detassle the corn.

Americans can’t expect illegals to follow the laws until we ourselves follow those same laws.

Kermit makes VERY good points. Law enforcement are usually overwhelmed with more serious offenses. I know you don’t want to hear that but it’s the truth. I would rather they get a murderer than someone who’s looking for work. Sorry

JuJu is right too. Their hands are being tied and most don’t like it.

Law enforcement is being bound by politicians that have another agenda. They are down in the ditches of the problem way moreso than the average citizen and believe me…they are only waiting for the go-ahead and the budget. They want to enforce more than you know.

Unfortunately, laws exist outside of a vacuum. Enforcement of laws is a subjective action.

Illegal immigrants are a relatively inexpensive source of labor for many American companies. After all, not many American citizens want to work eleven hour shifts in slaughter houses. So, when officials run the illegals out of town, the slaughter house suffers, loses productivity and stops generating a steady amount of taxes for local, state, and federal governments.

This is a microscopic example of how complicated this issue is. Believe me, the federal government does NOT want to figure this issue out because it would mean loss of tax revenue, businesses would go under, etc. In short, we need these people here to work these jobs. The question is, what is the compromise that will keep them here and keep their presence profitable.

Being required to show 2 forms of I.D. , does not sound that bad. This would only drive away any one that was here illegally, so I don’t see what the problem is.

If more laws like this were created, then itwould makeit easier to get rid of illegal immigrants.
